Zoom in on making…

Working with all kind of materials, cutting and sewing, as well as using and reinterpreting techniques like flat or volume pleating, textile finishing (dyeing, patina and painting) etc… : ATELIER CARACO is a creative and technical tool known for its unique know-how, and working with an inexhaustible palette of ancestral and contemporary techniques and by associating other craft experts in lace, feathers, embroidery, leather and so on. Each year at the Maison d’Exception Exhibition, we share our techniques, such as: corsets and corsetry, boned bodices, new types of stays, cording, crinolines, structures, volumes, assembly techniques, patina, dyeing and painting, etc.

The ATELIER CARACO expertise is constantly "reworked and fine-tuned" by the work of the hands, by the new vision of a creator, by the discovery of a new material or fabrication process, by unforeseen coincidences and the unpredictable alchemy of art, technique and life. By the boundless inventiveness of Claudine Lachaud and her team. For example, in corsetry, we adapt the cuts and techniques from old and vintage undergarments – corset, girdle and waist cincher – and compose with modern materials from our precious stock of dyed needlework: as examples, leather, vinyl, straw and tuxedo corsets, neck corsets and corseted dresses have left our workshops for the stage and haute couture shows.
